Welcome, Ms. Twomey

Bradyn Wood, Staff Writer

This year, we have a new member of the English Department. Her name is Ms. Meghan Twomey. She teaches 9th and 10th grade English. She graduated from Saint Rose College and then worked in Monticello’s middle school. As a kid, she always thought about being a teacher. She has several teachers in her family, including her mom, which inspired her to become one. If she could be anything other than a teacher, Twomey claims she would like to try being an actress. She says “I’ve never even acted before, so that wouldn’t work out so well”. When asked what her favorite part about being a teacher is, she said “it’s different every day, it’s never the same,” but she says “the worst part about teaching is having to wake up so early in the morning." Like most of us, she is not a morning person.

In addition to her teaching duties, she is going to be the new JV Girls’ basketball coach! She has played basketball since 1st grade and really loves the sport. She is looking forward to meeting new students through the basketball program. Some advice she has for students who would like to go to school and become a teacher one day is "to work hard and remember all of the things that you like about your teachers now, and try to emulate those qualities in your future classroom.”
