There is a lot of free time during the holiday season with Christmas break and New Year's. If you are a music lover, but do not know what to watch, I've got the specials for you! Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special, The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday, and My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood are all great picks. If you love Mariah Carey, then the holiday special for you is clear. If you love country with a hint of pop music, then My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood is right for you. If you want a little bit of everything, The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday is the right mix you need to feel the holiday cheer.

Every Christmas season, there are a few songs that everyone knows and has heard. By far, the most popular song is "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. Just in time for the holiday season, she has amazed us again with Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special, which was released on December 4th, on Apple Tv+. The 44-minute show has extravagant stars such as Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Tiffany Haddish. The show comprises of dancing, singing, skits, and beautiful costumes, which were visualized by Mariah Carey herself. For Mariah's first holiday special, this show is absolutely amazing. It showcases the beautiful voices of Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Mariah Carey in the hit song, "Oh Santa". The show is narrated by actress and comedian, Tiffany Haddish and dancer Misty Copeland shows off her captivating skills. Songs, "O Holy Night", "Joy to the World", "Silent Night", and of course, "All I Want For Christmas Is You", are also included in the special.

Another Holdiay celebration to watch is The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration which is already open to watch on Disney+. The show truly has an enormous amount of stars. The show is hosted by Julianna Hough, Derek Hough, and Trevor Jackson with guest appearances from Jamie Fox and Neil Patrick Harris. Aloe Blacc, Andrea Bocelli, Becky G, Boyz ll Men, JoJo, Brett Eldridge, Meghan Trainor, Ciara, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jason Derulo, Kelly Clarkson, OneRepublic, Pentatonix, and Shaggy performances from previous years are played during the special. A sneak peek to Disney's new movie Soul is played, too.

Lastly, we should talk about My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood which is available on HBO Max. This show is full of Carrie Underwood's hits. The show has a live orchestra and band. It is features a duet with John Legend called, "Hallelujah", and a duet with her very own son, Isaiah, singing the song, "The Little Drummer Boy". If you're into country music, this is the special for you!

A Night of Music and Song at WSHS

Alison Gerow, Staff Writer On October 18th at 7 pm, the Wallkill Senior High School hosted their annual Pops Concert. This is a concert in which most of the music ensembles from the district come out and show their skills. This is the only concert in which groups from all of the schools in the district come out to play. The first performance was by the Elementary Honors Orchestra led by Ms. Edie Duncan. Their performance was quite funny. Both the honors band and orchestra were all dressed up in their Halloween costumes and during the honors orchestra performance of "Ninja", they followed some phrases with a swift kick (and of course, Ms. Duncan did too). They were then followed by the Elementary Honors Band led by Mrs. Rubenstein. The High School Madrigal Choir hit the stage next in the lineup, led by Mrs. Dawn Amthor. They sang two pieces.
